E-Dribble

And to my loyal readers, it was great knowing all two of you.

It seems that my blog is destined to fail.  Hey, I’m as bummed about this as you are.  Well, I’m probably a lot more bummed than you are, since you’re either indifferent or actually happy about it.

When logging in to do my quasi-monthly posting, I noticed in the news block of the WordPress admin section, this title:

“Be More Than a Blip in the Blogosphere”

It seems that not only are you supposed to write these blogs, but you’re also supposed to promote them.

Who knew?

The article is pretty much just a link going to this article (which ironically, is breaking one of the rules stated in article they are linking to- content and not just links!).  That article lets you know why your blog sucks and what you can do to make it suck quite not as much.  It’s still going to suck, but maybe it will be a more pleasing shade of suck.

Let’s address a few points of the article:

1) Blogosphere:  Who the hell says this?  I would feel like a complete ass if I ever used this word in conversation, and if someone around me used it, I would be tempted to hit them with the first handy blunt object.

2)  Comment on other blogs twice as much as you write on your own:  Ok, I could cover this by commenting on another blog about once every two weeks.  It’s still too much trouble.  What the hell?  Why would anyone browse the blogosphere, posting bogus comments so people will hit your blog?  A little hint: If you think this is a good idea, then you’re a spammer.

3) Try to get big boys to link to you: It’s like the mafia.  There are some “made” bloggers in the blogosphere that can turn your fortunes around by simply pointing the written finger at you.  Of course, after this has happened, you have to wait for the day that they call your house looking for you to return their “favor”.  It will probably have something to do with burying the body of a competing blogger, or throwing an e-Molotov cocktail through the window of someone who gave their blog a bad review. Feel like blowing them off?  You don’t want to cross a blogging Big Boy.  They have cold hearts and no conscience.  I’ve heard they would sell their mother down the river for a higher Technorati rating.

4) Nominate yourself for awards: Wow.  Really.  Just, Wow.

I know that everyone writes blogs for different reasons and that for some people, traffic is very important. If you’re nominating yourself for awards, spamming comment sections of other blogs and doing some of the other things suggested in that article, maybe you should step away from the computer and do something more constructive with your time, like say, oh, I don’t know…. therapy… maybe.

Don’t worry, the blogosphere will be here waiting for you when you come back.
