If I wanted that type of performance, I would have installed Windows

I installed Fedora 9 tonight.
Shortly after, I replaced my Fedora 7 install.
Gone are the days of out of the box successful networking. Where any OS would recognize that you are connected to a network, Fedora now requires you to set up your network, much like Fedora 2. Also, you can now welcome the arrival of the Vista-esque oversized graphical icons and laggy desktop performance.
I think we have witnessed Fedora’s jumping of the shark.

“A bridge too far” comes to mind. While other versions of Fedora were labeled as ‘cutting edge’, this time we’re invited to slide down the whole blade! KDE4 is not ready for general release, IMHO, and putting out xorgs that break my Nvidia 3D won’t allow me to make the switch. Lots more, of course, but this is the first time that I’ve retained a previous version once the new one’s released.
Then again, if I wanted it all to ‘just work’, I’d spend 90% of my time with PCLOS or Mint. Instead, it’s Fedora and Debian Lenny. Masochism can be fun!

They say that 4.1 is going to resolve a lot of the issues seen with KDE. I installed Kubuntu and everything worked out of the box on that, but 4.0 is balking at the nvidia driver on that flavor as well.
I’m hoping that F10 brings a little stability back into their equation. My F7 install is looking a little frayed around the edges.

Schwim, at least bump it up ‘one’ to Fedora 8. It’s running beautifully for me although nothing can beat Fedora 6, which never missed a beat from Alpha to End of Life.

I guess I will, if EOL begins to concern me. I’m not wrestling with any bugs in 7. I was really looking forward to the new DE and compressed updates(due to b/w restrictions).
Such is life. If these are my big problems, then I’m in great shape

Evening Schwim.
Wish I’d known you were going to try F9. I’d have warned you off of it.

Bob’s got the right of it, though. F8 is dressing out to be as solid as FC6 was. Which is not to say I’ve willingly dumped FC6 yet.
