You gotta have priorities.

by on May.13, 2008, under Humorous

I’m not going to give the guy a hard time about securing his case beer into his car with a seatbelt.  After all, if you really like beer, you would want it to be safe in the event of an accident right?  No ridicule for this, I salute his level of attentiveness towards the safety and security of his alcohol.

It’s the fact that he left his five year old in the backseat unbuckled that causes me to take a moment to consider his priorities.  Maybe he thought that having arms allowed the boy to fend for himself in the case of an accident.

He’d better put that beer down if he wants to grab that “Parent of the Year” plaque that they’re sure to give him.

We shall baffle them with our patented and closed source bullshit.

Microsoft would like to share their source code with the FOSS crowd. Well, not really. What they would like is for some of the FOSS crowd to use some of their code. Then they would like to point out that their code was never actually open source. It was more of a look-but-don’t-touch license. It’s like a lawsuit machine covered in open source gift wrap.

Just like in the Special Olympics,

Everyone gets a hug after completing the parking portion of the contest.

Found this today when coming out from the Ingles. For those that can’t tell, it’s a dually crew cab parked at a 30 degree angle in a handicap parking spot.

I’m posting this simply because we’ve got to spread awareness for those poor souls whose handicap involves mental retardation.  Say it with me folks, “Larger handicap spots for the retards!”

Park, Forrest, park!

One of the benefits to writing about obscure topics is that you receive some obscure traffic.

To explain, I present exhibit A:

What is this?

This is a search phrase entered into a search engine that pointed them to my site. Someone found my site by trying to find out more about snorting Sudaphed.

Two things.

So easy, I almost feel guilty

by on May.08, 2008, under MPAA & RIAA, Software

Some may think that I have it in for Microsoft.  Not true.  I use many of their products and I’m not trying to spearhead a lynchmob.

It’s just that they make it so easy, sometimes.

Take the latest news involving the Zune.  It’s likely that a future software update will install a copyright protection scheme that will block any unapproved media from being uploaded to it.  This means that Microsoft will determine whether you purchased it via approved channels.

That dvd you ripped at your house?  That’s almost guaranteed to be an “unapproved channel”.

The only thing that keeps me from being incensed is that we all get to choose which player we will use and if you get screwed by Microsoft, it’s because you wanted to.

I’m as surprised as you are about it.

Information Week compared seven linux distributions and wonders above all other wonders, Ubuntu came out on top.

In true media-comparison form, they make sure to tell you that they like them all and nobody really wins or loses.  It’s kind of like when your mom used to tell you that she loved you as much as your brother, just differently.

What, your mother didn’t tell you that?

Clementina Marie Giovannetti owns a McMansion that she would rather no longer be an owner of. Unfortunately, the market is quite what you would call a seller’s market. In fact, one could go so far as to say that this is the worst time to sell a house in the last 30 years.

What to do? Give it away. While she’s doing that, she’s going to make a buttload of cash. If by some incredibly poor stroke of luck, she doesn’t make said buttload, she will keep the money and the house.

How’s that work?

I’m a winner!…. but what did I win this time?

I love 419 scams. Unfortunately, the people that send them rarely do any more than change the names of the people giving me lots of money, so it eventually grows tiring of poking some fun at them. It’s been so long though that I was able to enjoy authoring a response.
