I heard he’s under contract with Otis Elevators

by schwim on Jun.30, 2009, under Music

A couple of months ago, I purchased a used copy of Chris Cornell’s latest solo album. After listening to it, I threw it away. Don’t worry, UMG. I didn’t make a copy of it prior to throwing it away. I didn’t want it in the house.

I forgot about it until reading Wired’s “Top 5 Audio Atrocities to Throw Down a Sonic Black Hole”, in which Chris Cornell came in at number 1.

I know our tastes are supposed to mature over time, but I’m pretty sure there will never come a time that I can tolerate the music he released on that album. With music by Timbaland and produced backing vocals(see comments) by Justin Timberlake, it’s almost as if he systematically and methodically did everything he could think of to disgust and ostracize his fans.

There’s hope though. I hear we’re going to hear something amazing from him and Lady GaGa.

Are you dead yet? How about now? Now?

by schwim on Jun.29, 2009, under Miscellaneous

Well, it seems that in spite of news channels and educated tweets predicting the opposite, The swine flu was kind of a bust :(

Psych! It seems that a single person in Denmark has a case of the virus that is resistant to medication. Imagine that. A virus that resists treatment. Doctors stated that this man seems to be the only human being alive with the more resistant strain of the virus. Of course, they’re not contemplating about whether the anomaly lies with the patient, they’re assuming that a super-virus has developed.

Currently, Fox News is working on what to call a one-man virus outbreak that will still grab headlines.

I voted for “mandemic”.

Make millions with nothing but a thumb and an asshole!

by schwim on Jun.26, 2009, under Spam

It took some folks longer to notice than others, but it has recently become newsworthy that traditional news sites and scam news sites have become completely indistinguishable from each other. To make it more confusing for the uninitiated or stupid, the sites considered to be “real” news sites are linking to and advertising for the scam news sites.

Let me just be clear before I help the previously mentioned uninitiated and stupid users of the internet. If you find what I say to be anything other than common sense, you should reevaluate your presence on the internet. That being said, these sites wouldn’t be as successful as they are without a plentiful supply of retards, so we can rest assured that some will find this after their failed attempt at becoming a millionaire with nothing but a computer connection, sloth and greed.

Finally free from the weenie

by schwim on Jun.26, 2009, under Humorous

How I found it is one of those inexplicable “7 degrees” types of things, but nonetheless, I’m glad I did. Prior to viewing the video, I had no idea that you could exorcise homosexuality.

Now if only we could pinpoint the demon that makes you a moron, we could make that whole room of people a lot more productive.

Sure, it may be juvenile, but think of all the money I save.

I can’t adequately describe why this made me giggle as hard as it did.

bannedalt

The first thing I thought of after it happened was this guy.

If I dwelt on this for an extended period of time, I would quickly realize that there’s a part of me that didn’t develop sufficiently somewhere along my intellectual growth cycle. So I choose not to dwell on it, instead giggling every time I look at that picture. In fairness, it could be worse. It could have resulted in my being a serial killer, but it didn’t. I cause no more than the most minor of inconveniences in the lives of a few people. In exchange, I get a warm-fuzzy. As well, in most occasions, I brighten the lives of others. Maybe the guy who posted below bannedalt said it best:

Lol, this bannedalt guy was pretty funny while 4u2nv was pretty hostile and got banned. Wonder why bannedalt was banned as well

We have taken every possibility into account

Sugarlabs, a fork of the huge failure that was the OLPC released an OS intended for USB installation so every aging and decrepit computer can have the ability to run an operating system and educational software.

It seems that Sugarlabs brought along some of the huge resources of FAIL at OLPC. It’s the only way I can explain how they missed the most obvious fact of obsolete hardware; If a decrepit computer even has a USB port, chances are huge that it’s bios is not going to allow you to boot from it.

At least they forked the development. You know how I love that.

And I thought anyone could do it.

It seems that even spamming has it’s rejects. I let this one through because it was just too good to pass up:

Since you’re a spamming {fuck|piece of shit|loser} that’s too {stupid|incompetent|clueless|moronic} to properly {set up|configure} your spambot, I really don’t think I need to bother with a thoughtful response, so I took this time to {mock|fuck with|ridicule|poke fun at} you. The recession caught them by surprise I guess.

by schwim on Jun.16, 2009, under Miscellaneous

If they hadn’t been too busy networking with pedophiles and 15 year old emos, Myspace Inc. might have noticed that we were in the midst of a recession and acted accordingly. Instead, they canned one third of their employees. Their stated reason? They wanted to get back to their roots”. It’s well known that Facebook was kicking their ass for some time. In reality, their resource stretching in an attempt to get back some real estate bit them in the ass.

I can see why Facebook took the lead in social networking, with incredibly hot promotional gimmicks like the “name grab” they had recently that went over like a lead balloon with anchors tied to it.

Well, at least we still have Twitter, although we almost lost it. Hehe, not really. But they did get some free advertising out of it, which is good.

The salty tears, they make the skin so supple.

by schwim on Jun.14, 2009, under Software

Well, it seems some are curious as to whether the EU’s actions against Microsoft are relevant any longer, concerning the disassociation of IE with their operating system.

Which is kind of funny, because I was saying the same thing three years ago when other browser vendors started crying like little bitches about the unfair advantage.

The return of the prodical nincompoop

by schwim on Jun.10, 2009, under Software

Before I begin, I would  like to admit two things:

#1 Some of my issues concerning linux reflect more poorly on me than it does on linux

#2 I tend to hold grudges

The last successful linux install I had(meaning one in which I could do everything I needed and wanted to do) happened in 2007.  I had used linux in the years prior as a desktop, but that was the last install I was able to use as my desktop.  The ocean of subsequent install attempts(of which there were many) were all failures of some degree.
