Paging Mr. Whacko, Mr. Whacko, please come to the medicine disbursment center.

All of the guys reading this that frequent(or used to frequent) the FedoraForum idle forum probably got to witness or be a part of this thread up until the premature end. In it, those members with too much time on their hands discussed Richard Stallman and his influence on the linux community, or more specifically how it is viewed by the rest of the world. It seems that I viewed his place in the world of free software as less of a benefit than others.

In my incredibly humble opinion, Richard Stallman is a very large part of why linux has such a negative stigma attached to it.  He’s one of the most vocal proponents for free software. In my opinion, he’s one of the worst.

I don’t base my prejudice on any of his beliefs, stances or opinions.  A lot of things Richard Stallman champions are things I believe in.  My only issue with him being the unappointed leader of free software is that the man spends an inordinate amount of time making the community look like a bunch of dipshits.  The focus he brings to linux can only be viewed as beneficial if you are as batshit crazy as he is. Here is his latest offering to linux credibility.

David Schlesinger had some issues concerning RMS’ speech, and posts their discussion in it’s entirety on his blog, but really his points don’t mirror my concerns.  I could give a flying shit in a rolling donut what Mr. Stallman’s religious beliefs are or anything else for that matter. What bothers me is that every time he puts on his robe and halo, either literally or metaphorically, he makes every linux user look like a raving lunatic.  There comes a time when you being a genius no longer outweighs the damage you do by being a fucking moron.  He passed that pivotal point so long ago, that people have obviously forgotten a time when he wasn’t such a social pimple on the ass of linux.

In the end, the real problem isn’t Mr. Stallman.  It’s every linux user and developer that gives him the exposure to do this sort of damage to the community.  He’s on a pedestal because the community lifted his fat ass up there.

Ah yes, one of your better performances. The “cat and mouse” reference in my first post points to another masterpiece. Fun days.
(For my part I’ll wave the usual fee and accept only union scale for the reruns.)

String Theory is telling us that there are likely 11 dimensions in the universe. We get 4. Stallman gets the other 7. Dark matter. He cannot be measured directly. He must be experienced indirectly….. absorbed. Feel his gravity. Marvel at how the light bends subtly around his mass. Open your mind to the source. [I'm ROFL here. :) ]

The New Testament is far more interesting.
