How to make Debian more attractive for users

Get rid of the pompous douche bags that inhabit the Debian forums.

So, it’s no wonder that Facebook decided to change the way they monetized on the information you chose to make private.

Nah, I’m just shitting you.  They hired a regulator from the Bush administration to defend their actions in the face of a governmental investigation.  Because if anyone can defend the stripping of the peoples’ rights, it’s someone from the Bush administration.

Anyone that has read a couple posts of mine is at risk of thinking that I’m either Amish or just a curmudgeon that abhors the new social society.  Not true.  I simply was never willing to sign up for Zuckerberg’s sham of a site.  I would love nothing more than to have a prospective employer find out I’m a proud member of the “Gay Lovers of Balloon Animals” or reconnect with that first woman I disappointed as well as my childhood friend that asked if he could play “hide the sausage” with me. I just need a system that isn’t as flawed as Facebook to do it with.  I would wager all of my chips on Diaspora(I refuse to include the damned asterisk).  A new social system developed by a few nerds that really dislike Facebook, it’s the first I’ve seen that actually looks like it might come to fruition.  They’re still in early development, so you’ll just have to wait a while before you can friend me so you can watch me change my status from “bored” to “hungry”.

It really isn’t much of a big deal when you take into account that getting into an iPhone is still much more expensive than a phone running Android.  Many people are choosing Android because they either can’t afford or don’t want to spend the money required to own an Apple product.  It hardly determines a superior product.

Who cares why it’s happening, right?  We should just be cheering that open source is finally trampling a proprietary product on it’s own turf!

Wait just a sec, you robe wearing, GNU-touting supernerd.  During it’s incredible rocket to popularity and stardom, Android is showing the world one of the main reasons open source sucks. Although I’ve made fun of it countless times, it seems that people are still surprised by the fact that if you have 400 versions of one thing with no interoperability planned into them, you spend much of your time frustrated by the fact that applications written for version 394 isn’t compatible with version 103.  In short, many applications written for Motorola’s Android doesn’t work with LG’s version of Android.  For that reason, consumers are growing wary that the Jones’ version of Android will be better than their own.  Unlike Apple’s OS, inequality abounds.

I have bigger things to worry about than this, however.  I’m working on creating a distrowatch site for the Android operating system so each phone owner can track the top five hundred versions of Google’s operating system in real time.  Given the linux user’s inability to see this as a huge shortcoming, it should be incredibly popular.

I just wanted to have a good laugh.

I honestly don’t know why I try, nonetheless for the few of you that aren’t the lobotomized retards giving away all of their personal information by both handfuls, but instead someone that just had a moment of complete stupidity and created an account while in a fugue:

To summarize, information that at one time was explicitly protected by an earlier version of their privacy policy is now being shared with no way for the sucker to opt out.

I really have no reason to feel outrage, since I, as previously stated, was smart enough to see Facebook for the useless waste of web space that it is. I do, however, wonder what in the hell drives people to not care that they’re being used for a quick buck.  They’re like information whores, getting nothing more than a lame ass flash game and connections with people they hoped to never talk to again in return for all their personal information.

I’d continue, but I need to go update my status for the kid that used to beat my ass in elementary school, my ex-wife and that dude that always asked for a cigarette in my squad.

I’m hoping that cyber-me does better at block building that the real me has in the past.  I’ve signed up for the closed beta and will let you know if the people at Lego deem me worthy to assemble fake blocks together in an MMO setting.

For those of us that despise social networking, Google has finally added the ability to actually opt out of the bullshit that is “Buzz“.

Or, it’s just another button that doesn’t do what they say.

I think anyone willing to pay upwards of $700 for an iPhone with a weight problem will very likely pay $30 a month to read what the NY Times considers news-worthy.

Which leads me to this hard-hitting comparison:
