No home? No problem!

So says the mafRIAA, anyway.
As p2pnet’s article opens:
The RIAA has sued a dead grandmother, a 12-year-old child, a disabled mother, a woman seriously ill from multiple sclerosis, and an elderly home health aide who doesn’t know one end of a computer form another, among many others.
So why not a homeless man?
Why not, indeed. If you throw enough excrement, some is bound to stick to the people you’re throwing it at(in the RIAA’s case, it’s the customer). Ironically enough, the funding for their lawsuits come from the customer as well.
Since the average consumer will take anything you give them and thank you for it, the recording industry association of America has decided that things like legitimate lawsuits, research and truthfulness are more expensive than they are worth. The more lawsuits they can file, the better the chances are that they might scare another person out of downloading tablature, lyrics, a ringtone or heaven forbid, a song.
Sometimes, their method makes for some humorous reading for the twelve of us that are paying attention.

Now accepting applications for my entourage

I’m going to record an album.
I have no doubt that it is going to be a really bad album, but I don’t think I have a choice in the matter.
I had convinced myself that I was past the age where things like recording your first album occured.
Then I read about Jonathan.
Take my song, please!

If you take an interest at all in music, you’re aware of the hoops consumers have had to jump through to get a song they can listen to on their own terms. Thanks to the bully tactics of the labels, you are often told how many times you can listen to it, on what device and only while you’re paying a subscription fee.
There’s alternatives. I purchase music used on eBay. This provides a better cost to me, and it keeps any extra money out of the labels’ hands. Why help fund the entity that is stripping my rights? I must digress, however. One of the alternatives I wanted to bring to your attention today is the artist that actually wants you to have their music… at no cost to you… for free…
