Obviously, I’m watching the watchers.

If you use Firefox as your browser, then chances are great that you use a product maintained by Wladamir Palant.  He develops the Adblock Plus addon, which allows you to browse the internet without offers to punch a Monkey, match the lips with the star or having to view whole movie trailers through a flash applet while trying to read an article on a news site.

Well, it seems they got to Wladamir.  You see, the developer of the addon that blocks ads for me would like to integrate a new feature into ABP that would allow site owners to hit you with a pop-up asking you to change your mind about their ads.

My response concerning how cool I thought it to be is buried in that page, but I can summarize quite neatly. I need an ad blocker.  Not an advertisement mediator.

This is the future!

No, I didn’t forget an ‘s’ at the end.  I’m talking about Wired Magazine.  I received the latest issue last week and after pulling out only the blow-in cards and pages with ads on both sides, I was left with about one article and 38 full page ads.  I didn’t count the ads that didn’t span a full page.

I guess this is to be expected from a “technically savvy” magazine whose online polls only support Internet Explorer on Windows machines.

Luckily, my emo and 17 magazines still have plenty of content.
